18" (46 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead with oval-shaped face, generously-modeled bosom, brown sculpted hair loosely drawn away from face and captured in a voluminous coiled braid at the back interwoven with red ribbons which extend to her crown and are tied with a red sculpted bow, enamel eyes in deeply-set sockets, closed mouth, gentle expression, tow-wrapped armature posable body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, painted blue stockings, black shoes with red buckles, wearing original silk costume with rich embroidered details and carrying two baskets of grapes. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, mid-1700s, attributed to the workshops of Francesco Bonfiglio (Reference Scultura Napoletana del Settecento by Teodoro Fittipaldi, 1980).
