Description
13" (33 cm.) Solid domed bisque head with flanged neck, brown sculpted boyish hair, intaglio blue side-glancing eyes with pronounced black pupils, white eye dots, short feathered brows, mouth modeled as though puckered for whistling, with small original hole in center, muslin body with bellows in torso to emit a whistling sound, composition lower arms, original costume. Condition: generally excellent except fingers worn. Marks: 8774 Heubach (square) Germany. Comments: Gebruder Heubach, circa 1915, marketed as "Whistling Jim". Value Points: rare novelty doll whose whistling sound is enhanced by modeling of mouth.
