21" (53 cm.) Bisque shoulderhead with oval face lifted haughtily upward, slender throat, aquiline nose, strong chin, brown glass inset eyes, dark upper eyeliner, painted lower lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with accent line between the lips, brunette mohair wig in upswept coiffure, plaster pate, slender kid body with pin-jointing at hips, knees, and elbows, bisque lower arms and hands. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 172 7 (head) (crown and streamer paper label on torso). Comments: Kestner, circa 1910, the doll was inspired by the satirical drawings of society ladies by American illustrator Charles Dana Gibson. Value Points: fine quality of bisque on the portrait model with intriguing connection to the noted early 1900s American artist, original body and perfect bisque hands.
