22" (56 cm.) Paper mache shoulderhead of lady with oval face, elongated strong throat, black sculpted hair with three full ringlet curls at each side of face and tightly-coiled brided chignon at the top back crown, highly-defined sculpting of facial features, blue eyes, heavy eyelids, black upper eyeliner, single stroke brows, unusual upturned nose tip, closed mouth, blushed cheeks, slender kid body, wooden lower limbs. Condition: very good, corner chip at back right shoulderplate, repairs to kid body. Comments: Germany, circa 1840. Value Points: outstanding detail of facial sculpting, rare coiffure, original body, original costume comprising (frail) silk blouse, plaid skirt, silk waist sash with applique ribbon scallops, undergarments.
