Description
8" (20 cm.) Chip-carved figures of a little boy with brimmed hat and wonderful details of carved and painted costume including over-sized striped tie, green parasol, and red polka dot sack; his head is swivel attached and the back removes for access to the simple internal mechanism which, when wound, causes the boy to turn his head side to side and "whistle". Condition: generally excellent. Functions willfully. Comments: Karl Griesbaum, Germany, early 1900s. Value Points: wonderful detail of carving and painting on the cheerful whistling boy.
