Description
15" (38 cm.) The tall carved figure depicts a uniformed bagpiper with defined carved and painted details of Scottish uniform including plaid skirt, tall hat, cape, boots, and holding a carved wooden bagpipe with carved bone pipes. The head is swivel attached to body, and when wound, he turns his head side to side and "whistles" as though playing the bagpipes. Condition: generally excellent, small chip at base of bagpipe, mechanism functions willfully. Comments: Karl Griesbaum, Germany, early 1900s. Value Points: fine mechanical figure with rare detail of carved bone pipes.
