Description
27" (69 cm.) Bisque socket head, blue glass paperweight inset eyes, long painted curly lashes, wide brushstroked and feathered brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with very full shaded and outlined lips, pierced ears, brunette hand-tied human hair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: E 12 D. Comments: Denamur, circa 1890, with the deposed body articulation system registered by him in that year. Value Points: fine all-original condition of the wide-eyed bebe, with very fine bisque and painting, original wig, original rare body with original finish, and beautiful antique aqua silk dress, undergarments, socks, shoes. In his book, Fascinating Dolls, Samy Odin noted that the doll was "from the most deluxe line of bebes produced by Etienne Denamur in the company's earliest years".
