Description
19" (48 cm.) Posed upon a velvet-covered wooden platform is an amusing scene in which a bisque-head jester professor is standing between a blackboard easel on his right and a paper mache pup posed upon a platform on his left. The jester has white complexion with painted facial decorations, auburn mohair wig, carton torso and legs, wire upper arms, bisque forearms, and is wearing a (frail) original silk costume with pom-poms, ruffle and matching cap, and is holding a teaching rod. When wound, music plays, the jester turns his head side to side, and waves the rod, as though instructing, while the little pup, resting on his haunches, moves his front paws eagerly up and down, and wags his tail. Condition: mechanism and music function well. Marks: SFBJ 255 Paris 8/0 (clown). Comments: French, circa 1910. Value Points: amusing automaton with jolly activities, is well accented such as ABC's on blackboard and little book about dogs posed at the front of the jester.
