18" (46 cm.) Bisque socket head, very narrow blue glass squinting eyes, painted curly lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, nearly closed mouth with slightest opening between the lips, laughing expression, row of porcelain teeth, blonde mohair wig, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: SFBJ 229 Paris 8. Comments: SFBJ, circa 1912, from their art character series. Value Points: among the rarest of the SFBJ characters, this example with superb detail of sculpting and fine lustrous patina of bisque, antique mariner's costume.
