Description
12" (30 cm.) h. 9" l. Seated upon a fleece-covered paper mache donkey with glass eyes, red harness, and spoked wheel base, is a bisque-headed doll with blue glass enamel eyes, painted facial features, closed mouth, pierced ears, block torso, wooden and paper mache lower arms and legs, woolen costume of Normandy nanny. When pulled along, the nanny turns her head from side to side, and urges the donkey forward with the rod that she holds. Condition: bisque and mechanism are excellent, costume is original albeit quite dusty. Comments: French, circa 1890. Value Points: rare little toy with mischievous action.
