Description
32" (81 cm.) Bisque socket head with elongated facial shape and very full cheeks and chin, blue glass paperweight inset eyes, thick dark eyeliner, painted curly lashes, widely arched brushstroked and feathered brows, accented eye corners, shaded nostrils of pointy-tip nose, closed mouth, defined space between the outlined lips, separately modeled and pierced ears, brunette human hair in ringlet curls, French composition and wooden fully-jointed body with straight wrists, wearing pretty antique white cotton dress with tucks and cut-work, undergarments, black silk parasol, brown velvet bonnet with silk satin ribbons, brown leather shoes signed "Bebe Jumeau Depose". Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 15 (head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, circa 1884, from the bebe modeled by Parisian sculptor Carrier-Belleuse. Value Points: especially beautiful model, dramatic eyes enhanced by rose blushed eye shadow, finest quality of bisque and decoration, luminous complexion, original signed body and shoes. Provenance: from the family collection of Mildred Seeley, and featured in several of her books.
