Description
19" (48 cm.) h. 27" overall length. The imaginatively-designed toy has long wooden handle, and two wooden wheels which center the intricate scene. Resting on each side of the wooden bar are two wooden cages with wooden people between the bars, each surmounted by high turrets, and having a revolving cylinder between the turrets. A bird is resting on the turret floor, and two gilded birds are attached to the center cylinder. When the toy is pushed along, the cages and cylinder revolve creating a lively animated scene. Condition: very good, some light wear, finish is all original. Comments: American, mid-1800s. Value Points: an extraordinary folk art presentation with a exuberant decoration, imaginative movements.
