Of richly-grained mahogany,the bed features superb details of craftsmanship including detailed paneling on all sides of the bed frame (even where covered by linens),an ogee-shaped canopy with rounded corners and purple silk accents,and an unusual tapestry backboard of woven silks depicting an 18th-century court scene. The bed is fitted lavishly with embroidered silks and lace. Excellent condition. French,maitrise quality,circa 1860.
