Description
11" (28 cm.) Each has carved wooden head with well-defined facial features including incised age lines depicting an elderly man and woman, tinted features, firmly-stuffed muslin body, wooden hands. The man has painted black crown with stippling around the edges, and is wearing grey silk tunic under dark grey silk jacket with soutache ties, pink silk trousers; and the woman has painted hair with stippling detail and coiled chignon, wearing black silk tunic, skirt and pants, and with black velvet cap. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Chinese, Door of Hope Mission, circa 1920s. Value Points: especially appealing carving of facial features, original rare costumes.
