Description
14" (36 cm.) A bisque-head doll with large brown glass paperweight inset eyes,painted facial features,closed mouth,blonde mohair wig,carton torso and lower legs,wire upper arms and legs,bisque forearms and hands,is seated upon a paper mache tree trunk that is decorated with flowers and vines. Wearing her original silk costume and straw bonnet,she holds a wooden mandolin in her arms,and when wound,she strums the mandolin,and turns her head side-to-side while music plays. Condition: generally excellent,music and mechanism function well. Marks: F. 1 G. (early block letter markings,head). Comments: Gustav Vichy,from his series of seated persons in nature settings,with bisque head by Gaultier,circa 1880. Value Points: especially beautiful face on the dainty automaton,in well-preserved original condition,with two tunes.
