Description
6 1/2" (17 cm.) x 4 1/2". 9" x 7" framed. The silk ribbon depicts woven scene of a team of four horses pulling a fire engine, on which are posed eight firemen. The title "For Life of death, Heroism on Lady" appears beneath along with the statement "Woven in silk by Thomas Stevens, Inventory and Manufacturer, Coventry and London (Registered)". The ribbons, and later, scenes, were woven by the London firm, becoming a popular rage throughout the company. Circa 1880.
