8" (20 cm.) Posed upon a wooden base is a dimensional chip-carved scene of a woman whose hand rests upon a carriage from which three children's heads appear; the woman has chignon, hook nose, buxom figure and holds a bottle in her hand, and the woven detail of the carriage is well-defined; the back side is flat-dimensional. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: American, mid-1800s. Value Points: the detailed scene is enhanced by various shapes of carving.
