Description

14" (36 cm.) x 10". The folio has leather corners on the marbled cover along with the label "Dark Silk Designs". Inside are 107 plates with 293 silk samples in various woven designs and colors. An inscription on the inside front cover indicates that the folio was once the property of Ethel Traphagen (founder of the Traphagen School of Design in New York in 1923 and a noted collector of 19th century fashions). Excellent condition. French, mid-1800s.
