Description

8" (20 cm.) The flat cast metal figure of Polichinelle is posed bent at the waist, with vividly hand-painted costume, and a rod through torso as though he is holding a balance bar. When the toy is placed on the iron frame, he sways back and forth and tumbles completely over as though performing his act; because the balance bars are curved he also moves from one end of the frame to the other. Probably French, early 19th century.
