21" (53 cm.) Cloth shoulderhead with firmly-pressed and oil-painted features and hair, stitched-seam at back of head and at top of crown, shaped ears, painted brown curly hair with center part, painted blue eyes with upper-glancing pupils, brown upper eyeliner, single-stroke brows, closed mouth, muslin stitch-jointed body, oil-painted lower arms, antique boy's costume. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: American, circa 1900, the doll bears resemblance to early painted hair dolls by Gertrude Rollinson as well as construction details such as back of head seam stitching. Value Points: very appealing young lad, with folk art style of painting, antique costume.
