17" (43 cm.) l. A paper-mache bulldog with painted and flocked finish has well defined ribbing and musculature, wooden wheels, original leather collar and ruff, loosely nodding head, glass eyes, hinged jaw with well painted ferocious mouth interior. When pulled along by silver chain, the bulldog opens and closes his mouth in a ferocious manner and growls. Excellent condition. An early model of the popular 19th century French toy, circa 1885.
