Wax over paper mache shoulder head with rich ebony complexion, black glass enamel inset eyes, tinted features, closed mouth, fleeced hair, ears pierced into head, brown muslin body with elongated legs, brown kidskin arms with hand-stitched separated fingers. Condition: craquelure and wear to face and back shoulder. Comments: English, early 19th century. Value Points: very rare original black complexion, very expressive features, wearing lovely early velvet costume.
