Description
11" (28 cm.) doll. Porcelain shoulder head with short black sculpted hair having stippled curls around the forehead, painted bright blue eyes, red and black upper eyeliner, single stroke brows, closed mouth, slender kid body with carved wooden limbs, painted flat shoes, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Germany, circa 1865. Value Points: included with the gentleman doll is a wooden slant-front desk with pencil inlay, pair of gilded metal oil lamps, fancy easel-back frame with early photograph of two children with rocking horse, 1833 leather bound book of Methodist Hymns, 1896 miniature Holy Bible, and 1863 miniature book, Little Katy and Her Mother by Aunt Laura.
