18" (46 cm.) All-cloth doll with pressed and oil-painted facial features, oil-painted brown hair with swirling curls, stitched-on ears, painted large teal-blue eyes, painted all-around lashes, fringed brows, closed mouth with accent line between the lips, stitch jointing at hips and shoulders, oil-painted lower limbs, painted blue boots, antique costume. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: (faint Ella Smith markings on torso). Comments: Alabama Baby, from the cottage industry of Ella Smith, circa 1900. Value Points: fine original painted finish with large blue eyes, beautiful painting of hair.
