Description
11" (28 cm.) The cast iron figure of Uncle Sam, based on Thomas Nast drawing of 1877, is standing upon the base with raised eagle design and the words "Uncle Sam"; he holds a green cast iron umbrella in his left hand and a cast iron satchel with raised lettering U.S. is at his feet. When a coin is placed in his hand, and the lever pushed, he lowers his hand to drop the coin in the satchel which opens up; meanwhile his beard wags up and down. Very good/excellent, mechanism is complete and functioning, painted finish is original albeit with some rubs and fading. American, circa 1886, Shepard & Adams.
