14" (36 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, large blue glass enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with outlined lips, ears pierced into head, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, kid poupee body with square cut neckline, gusset-jointing at hips and knees, wooden arms with dowel-jointing at shoulders and elbows, and with swivel wrists. Condition: generally excellent, original light speckling on complexion. Marks: E. Comments: Leon Casimir Bru, circa 1867, with original Bru body; the model with slightly smiling expression and E letter marking was the precursor of the deposed smiling Bru poupee. Value Points: pretty wide-eyed poupee with tentative smiling expression has original body with articulated wooden arms, and wears original white pique gown with soutache embroidery, undergarments, and silk bonnet with tulle ruffled and silk frou-frou.
