Description
10" (25 cm.) x 7". The four brown leather bound volumes with gold tooled lettering feature the first four years of La Poupee Modele, beginning with December 1863 and continuing through 1867, including fashion patterns, color engravings and wonderful stories and articles, particularly related to dolls. The first issue expressed its mission "...to present the work of making doll clothese attractive and to teach girls by this entertaining means. All girls love their dolls and dress their dolls. The magazine will introduce young girls to needlework through playing with their dolls.", and to promote its real mission which was to promote the sale of dolls, doll costumes and doll accessories in the shop, A La Poupee de Nuremberg, owned by Madame Lavalle-Peronne who owned both the publication and the shop.
