Description
6" (15 cm.) h. 10"l. Posed on the flower-edged pathway of a cast iron base is a two-wheel cart pulled by a harnessed mule. A black man sits on the cart and a small black child hides behind a nearby shrub. When coin is placed under the driver's feet and the lever released, the little boy jumps in front of the frightened mule, causing the cart to lurch backward, while the coin slips into the cart bank. Very good/excellent, some paint fading, harness and yellow flower have old retouch, mechanism functions well. American, circa 1890s, J. & E. Stevens.
