15" (38 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead turned to the left with slender oval face, well-defined throat hollow and defined bosom, brown sculpted hair waved from her face and captured under sculpted green ruffled cap, enamel eyes, closed mouth, tow-wrapped posable body, carved wooden hands and legs, painted blue stockings and red boots, wearing original lavishly-trimmed court costume comprising long burgundy silk robe, fitted silk bodice with embroidered detail, matching belt, silk harem pants, and carrying a gilded metal treasure chest with faux-jewel trim. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, late 1700s, attributed to the school of Francesco Celebrano who served as director of modelers for the Naples Royal Factory for ten years with particular attention to presepio figures.
