18" (46 cm.) Bisque socket head with very full modeling of cheeks, blue glass sleep eyes, painted lashes and brows, accented eye corners and nostrils of pointy nose, closed mouth, well-defined teeth between the outlined lips, blonde mohair wig over plaster pate, early composition and wooden fully-jointed body with straight wrists, unusual jointed ankles. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 13. Comments: Kestner, circa 1885, the model closely resembles the "circle dot" model of Bru. Value Points: rarity factors include unusual face model, painted teeth, jointed ankle; the doll is wearing antique sailor costume, knit stockings and shoes, and carries a miniature tin sand pail labeled "Sea side".
