20" (51 cm.) Bisque socket head with elongated facial model and very full lower cheeks, dark blue paperweight inset eyes, dark painted lashes, thick dark eyeliner, mauve blushed eye shadow, brushstroked and feathered brows, closed mouth, outlined shaded lips, pierced ears, brunette hand-tied human hair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists and flat-cut derriere. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Sch (in shield) 8. Comments: Schmitt et Fils, circa 1880. Value Points: rich decoration of eyes lends a dramatic impression to the delicately-shaded complexion, original body and body finish, lovely antique costume.
