13" (33 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, blue glass paperweight inset eyes with spiral threading and pronounced pupil outline, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, rose-blushed eye shadow, arched feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with heart-shaped outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde curly fleeced wig over cork pate, French kid bebe body with gusset-jointing at hips, knees and elbows, bisque forearms, wearing gold silk dress, bonnet, undergarments (the petticoat lettered Ella Stowell 1880), and leather shoes incised C.M.; second silk dress is includwed. Condition: generally excellent, tip of left baby finger chipped. Marks: F 3/0 G (head and shoulder). Comments: Gaultier, circa 1880. Value Points: beautiful doll with especially sturdy and clean rare early body, intriguing provenance of Ella Stowell's petticoat.
