15" (37 cm.) Pressed bisque socket head, very large blue (referred to as "wrap-around") glass enamel inset eyes with spiral threading, thick dark eyeliner, painted lashes, mauve-blushed eye shadow, brush-stroked and feathered brows, accented and shaded nostrils, closed mouth with defined space between the outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent, original body finish with scuffing at joints. Marks: 0. Comments: Emile Jumeau, from the luxury "portrait" line of his premiere bebes, circa 1877. Value Points: gorgeous early portrait bebe with entrancing eyes, lovely bisque and painting, original early body and body finish, fine antique costume.
