Description
35" (89 cm.) Bisque socket head, brown glass eyes, painted lashes, dark eyeliner, brushstroked brows, accented nostrils, open mouth with shaded lips, four porcelain teeth, pierced ears, brunette human hair hand-tied wig in long ringlet curls, composition and wooden ball-jointed body. Condition: doll is excellent, dress has wear and restoration. Marks: ABG 1367 Germany 8. Comments: Alt, Beck and Gottschalk, circa 1890. Value Points: the doll is wearing the of Miss Annie Horatia Jones worn by her to Buckingham Palace on July 30th, 1886 on the occasion of her father [Horace Jones] receiving a knighthood from Queen Victoria. Value Points: exceptionally detailed costume includes a lavish matching bonnet, and also included are the shoes worn by Annie. An important dollhouse, which once also belonged to young Annie can be seen in London at the Metropolitan Archives with various references available online for viewing.
