Description
Of aqua-blue silk crepe, the dress features flat full-length panels alternating with panels of sewn-down and loose pleats, with short box-pleated sleeves, self-covered buttons at the back, and unusual crisscross lacing trim which extends from collar to waist, and completely around the waist. The dress is trimmed with darker blue collar and abstract appliques, and has a matching slip which is labeled 13804 Temple. Included is a vintage photograph of Betsy (Shirley Temple) wearing the dress in the 1938 film "Little Miss Broadway" as she says farewell to the other children in the Madrey Orphanage. Her new family has brought this dress for her to wear and as she tries it on for the first time she exclaims, "Is that me? I'm just a bit surprised at myself".
