Description
16" (41 cm.) All carved wooden doll, socket head, carved boyish hair with forelock curl detail and deeply incised detail of overall comb marks, intaglio brown painted eyes with white eye dots, black upper eyeliner, tinted brows, strong nose, all-wooden spring-jointed body, vintage sailor costume and cap (may be original). Condition: structurally excellent, finish is good with some light crazing on face, paint wear on limbs. Marks: Schoenhut Doll Pat. January 17, '11 USA & Foreign Countries. Comments: Schoenhut, transition era doll of the Graziano model 202, 1912, has stocking groove in thigh. Value Points: very rare doll made for one year only, with outstanding detail of sculpting.
