20" (51 cm.) Bisque swivel head with slender angular features on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, with deposed neck articulation system of Dehors which allows the head to tilt forward and side-to-side in realistic poses (as well as traditional swivel),almond-shaped blue glass inset eyes,heavily-lidded eyes with thick dark eyeliner, painted lashes, arched feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with heart-shaped upper lip, accent dots on the pale lips, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, kid poupee body with gusset-jointing at hips and knees, bisque forearms and hands. Condition: generally excellent, bisque arms are not original. Comments: attributed to August Dehors who deposed the rare articulation system in 1867; the system was used for classic model poupees, and in a few felicitous occasions it was used for this outstanding portrait model which Dehors likely created for display at the 1867 Paris International Exposition. Value Points: the beauty of the gorgeous poupee is rivaled only by her rarity, with exquisite bisque, painting and sculpting, and wearing beautiful antique costume, bonnet, undergarments, boots and jewelry.
