11" (28 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead with distinctive facial modeling, rich amber complexion, bald pate with shaded hair shadow and sculpted center crown tuft, highly-defined ears, enamel eyes, well-sculpted very thick moustache, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, painted blue stockings and red ankle boots with yellow edging, wearing costume comprising metallic and bead encrusted silk shirt, burgundy vest, ivory harem style pants, and carrying wooden pipe. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, mid-1700s, outstanding characterization enhanced by fine artistry of painting, a rare companion model to #47.
