Four 18th Century Gowns in Early Trunk with Transfer Designs

13" (33 cm.) l. trunk. 11" length of gowns. The wooden domed-top trunk is covered on all surfaces with early transfer-printed designs, and with a floral-patterned border. Within the trunk are four late 18th century gowns including gold metallic gown with blue silk lining, pale green silk gown with lavish silver metallic embroidery and green silk lining, yellow brocade silk gown with silver embroidery and fringe and with blue silk lining, and velvet gown with gold thread embroidery, and with additional woven silk cape with gold metallic thread. Some wear to paper edging on trunk, gowns very good to excellent. Late 1700s.
