9" (23 cm.) Each is of pressed tinplate with painted finish, including a man with sculpted beard and goatee who is holding a rifle, which he lifts and aims when the lever at the back leg is pushed; a mother teaching her little girl to walk; an old woman with basket at her back; and a boy riding a St. Bernard dog on rocking base (the latter three with keywind mechanisms). Condition: original paint on each albeit quite worn; mechanisms function. Comments: late 1800s. Value Points: a rare collection of imaginative early tinplate mechanical toys.
