Description
10" (25 cm.) l. Of heavy cast iron with well modeled impressions, the vignette depicts Teddy Roosevelt with traditional spectacles and costume aiming a hunting rifle at a tree trunk in which is hiding a brown bear. When coin is inserted and the lever pulled, the tree trunk cover snaps open and the bear pops up. The base has embossed label "Teddy and the Bear", and "Pat. Applied for" is embossed on the underside. Structurally excellent, mechanism functions well, finish is original yet faded. American, J. & E. Stevens of Connecticut from original design of Charles Bailey, c. 1907.
