16" (41 cm.) Bisque swivel head with rich ebony black complexion on matching kid-edged bisque shoulderplate, angular facial features with strong definition of temples and chin, shapely nose, brown glass paperweight inset eyes, black brows and eyeliner, open mouth with two rows of tiny porcelain teeth, pierced ears, black mohair wig over cork pate, black kid poupee body with gusset-jointing at elbows, hips and knees, stitched and separated fingers. Condition: generally excellent, little rub on nose tip. Comments: French, circa 1867, attributed to Leon Casimir Bru. Value Points: very rare model with lustrous complexion, sturdy original body, and wearing fine antique costume of brown velvet gown, undergarments, woven cap with net snood.
