18" (46 cm.) l. Seated in a gaily painted two-wheeled farm cart is a bisque doll with blue glass eyes, open mouth, teeth, blonde mohair wig, wooden block torso, wooden arms and legs, painted red stockings and black shoes, wearing rose silk jester costume and bicorn hat with lace trim; the cart is being pulled by a flannel-covered paper mache donkey with black enamel eyes, tiny tin spoked wheels, leather harness and saddle blanket and decorated with brass bells and feathers. When pulled along, the little child waves his arms up and down as though urging the donkey to go faster, faster. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French, circa 1890. Value Points: most charming vignette with enhancing decorative details including flowers, bells, fancy donkey harness, silk costume of jester.
