13" (33 cm.) Bisque socket head with solid dome, having two different faces which are alternately revealed by simply swiveling the head; one face depicts a crying child, having brown glass eyes, painted lashes, painted scowling brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth in crying expression; the other face depicting a smiling child with brown glass eyes, daintily-painted features, closed mouth with upturned lip corners in smiling expression, blonde mohair wig, composition and wooden fully-jointed body, nice antique costume comprising pique coat/dress, undergarments, rose silk stockings, kidskin shoes, bonnet. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Simon and Halbig, circa 1890. Value Points: the two facial models, each rare in themselves, felicitously combine in an extremely rare double-face doll with fine quality of bisque and painting, antique costume.
