11" (28 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead with distinctive facial modeling, rich amber complexion, bald pate with shaded hair shadow and sculpted center crown tuft, highly-defined ears, enamel eyes, well-sculpted very thick moustache, open mouth with beaded teeth and tongue tip, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, painted blue stockings and red ankle boots with yellow edging, wearing costume comprising metallic and bead encrusted burgundy silk shirt and vest, ivory harem style pants, and carrying early snare drum and drumstick. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, mid-1700s, a companion to #46, indubitably from the same artist, yet with variations of modeling especially in eyes and mouth.
