Description
3" (8 cm.) The firm-sided box with bombe shape has ivory silk cover with hand-painted floral designs,gilt paper trim,center medallion frame enclosing a sepia photograph of Emperor Franz Joseph,and little gilt ball feet. The lid,with ring handle,removes for access to candy box interior. The valise was given as a party favor to ladies attending a lavish Viennese ball,circa 1885. Excellent condition.
