2 1/2" (6 cm.) h. The gilt metal and ormolu frame with beaded design is decorated with a leaves at each corner and encloses a sepia photograph of the beloved Empress Elisabeth ("Sissi") who ruled over Vienna during much of the second half of the 1800s,and was noted as a fashion and beauty icon. This ballspenden was likely a favor presented to ladies at a prominent Viennese ball of the era. Near mint condition and extremely rare. Vienna,1875.
