11" (28 cm.) doll. 14" with cushion. All felt doll with light brown complexion portrays a rajah seated on cushion, pressed and painted facial features with narrowed side- glancing eyes, painted eye shadow, broad nose, widely smiling mouth with very full coral shaded bottom lip, very large wrapped felt turban, plump body posed in seated position with bent knees and right elbow. Condition: generally excellent, some fading. Comments: Lenci, model 168, from the firm's early series, circa 1925. Value Points: very rare model with superb imaginative detail of costume includes embroidered elephants and lions on jacket, wooden jewelry including elephant necklace, bracelets, and earrings, wooden fan, felt slippers with upturned toes, seated on black felt cushion having applique designs, attached to brown felt under cushion with tasseled corners.
