25" (64 cm.) Pressed bisque socket head with pear-shaped facial modeling, very full cheeks and throat, almond-shaped brown glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, mauve-blushed eye shadow, brush-stroked and feathered brows, shaded nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with defined space between the shaded and outlined lips, pierced ears, auburn mohair wig over cork pate, French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists and flat-cut derriere. Condition: bisque excellent, body is original and has original finish, albeit craquelure on arms and torso. Marks: Sch (in shield) 4.5 (head) (body also marked Sch in shield). Comments: Schmitt et Fils, circa 1882. Value Points: outstanding sculpting of well-defined facial features enhanced by subtle blushing, fine antique costume.
