Very Rare Italian Black Felt Character, Series 112, by Lenci from Earliest Period

15" (38 cm.) Very plump doll of firmly-stuffed black felt, with pressed features on swivel head, black looped wool curly hair, white felt eyes with black bead pupils, red embroidered nostrils, red felt lips, stitched-on ears, jointing at shoulders and hips of short legs. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: Lenci, the doll, model 112, appears in Lenci's first advertisement of 1920. Value Points: very rare early doll is wonderfully-preserved, wearing original grass skirt, glass-beaded necklace which dangles a carved wooden doll, and hooped earring with carved wooden dog.
